Illegal Immigrant Drug Bust Part 3
Posted by Dave under Borders & Security , Crime & Justice , Georgia PeachesFor the third time in two weeks, there has been another heavy duty drug bust in Atlanta’s far north suburbs involving drugs being imported and trafficed by illegal immigrants.
As reported this morning by AccessNorthGeorgia.com, the bust seized a tractor-trailor loaded with cocaine with a value estimated at $10 million.
The foot chase Tuesday in Oakbrook Industrial Park in Gainesville was part of a drug sting according to the Atlanta office of the Drug Enforcement Administration.
Ruth Porter-Whipple said five people were arrested when agents moved in on a warehouse they had under surveillance and a large amount of cocaine was seized .
“Activity around the warehouse area led agents to believe there was distribution occuring,” Porter-Whipple said.
She added the agency was tipped that a load was arriving on a tractor trailer. They say they did seize a very large amount of cocaine.
“Approximately 100 kilograms of cocaine,” she said. “The wholesale level would be approximately $17,000 per kilogram.”
Almost $100-thousand cash was also seized. The street value of the drug is an estimated $9,900,000.
Arrested were Jose Luis Galvan, 32, Jose Luis Rodriguez-Flores, 34, Jorge Armondo Segovia-Rosales, 26, Arnulfo Flores-Rodriguez, mid-30’s and Carlos Alonzo, mid 30’s.
Porter-Whipple said Alonzo is the only one of the group in the US legally.
Just doing the jobs that Americans don’t want to do?
